We can guarantee incredible whale interactions with very few other boats around as well as the magical feeling of being on a deserted island - there is no other buildings anywhere near us. Our base has just five rooms, as well as a yoga deck, and communal eating area.

Only if you are willing to buy out a whole room (so two places) for yourself. There are only five rooms available where we stay - four rooms for two guests sharing, and one room for the guides.

Flights to Tonga, travel insurance, and personal expenses such as alcohol or souvenirs are not included. If you're a certified diver and want to swap out one of the whale excursions for a day of diving, you can do this for an extra cost 🙂

Yes. Tonga is considered a very safe destination with welcoming communities and a relaxed island atmosphere. We strongly recommend booking fully comprehensive travel insurance that covers flight cancellations and delays.

You will catch a 50 minute domestic flight from Tongatapu (TBU, Tonga’s main airport) to our secret location.

To make things as seamless as possible, we offer to book these flights for you. These flights depart around 10 am, but schedules do change. We recommend arriving the day before and spending one night in Tongatapu.

NOTE: Domestic flights are only included for bookings made from 9th July 2026 onwards; the trip price was adjusted from this date to reflect the cost.

Yes. Transfers between the airport and the island are included on arrival and departure days.

We can provide masks, snorkels, and fins, but we highly recommend bringing your own to ensure the best fit and comfort. The last thing we’d want is for you to miss an incredible in-water moment because your gear isn’t quite right.

Yes. You must be a confident swimmer. Conditions can sometimes be rough, and you will be swimming in open ocean. Strong swimming ability is essential for your safety and enjoyment.

We are a licensed, conservation-first operator and aim to swim every trip. But whales are wild - Ethical wildlife encounters happen on the animal’s terms. If whales are resting, traveling, or showing signs of disturbance, we move on. This approach protects the whales and ensures that when encounters do happen, they are calm, natural, and unforgettable. If conditions or whale behavior don’t allow it, we may observe them without entering the water. In such cases, your safety and their well-being take priority.

We work only with licensed local operators and experienced whale guides who follow Tonga’s strict regulations. Approaches are slow and respectful, swimmers enter the water quietly, and whales are always given plenty of space to control the interaction.

Never. Tonga limits encounters to very small groups; typically just four swimmers and a guide at a time. This keeps the experience intimate, quiet, and far less intrusive for the whales.

No. Entering the water is optional. You can stay on the boat at any time and still enjoy watching the whales from the surface.

Your safety is our top priority. Our team consists of highly qualified and experienced professionals, including internationally certified skippers with over 40 years of combined experience. Our guides are professionally trained in-water guides, trained lifesavers, PADI-certified instructors, certified swimming instructors, highly trained medics, and Tonga-certified. We also have many years of experience working with wildlife in the water and a strong understanding of whale behaviour, ensuring encounters are conducted responsibly and safely.

Yes - there is Starlink internet available on the island, free of charge.

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is required for all guests. Your policy should include medical coverage, evacuation, trip interruption, and cancellation protection. We recommend Rise & Shine; these guys specialise in adventure travel policies.

Yes - Tongan regulations currently permit drones, so long as you comply with local laws.

The rooms are traditional beachfront eco fales, designed to blend comfort with a simple, off-grid island lifestyle. Each one is handcrafted using natural materials and sits just steps from the ocean, with a private verandah overlooking the water. 

Inside, you’ll find comfortable twin beds, ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, and soft, breathable linens, all cooled naturally by ocean breezes. 

They’re private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature—fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up with the ocean right outside your door.

We run entirely on solar and wind power. Devices can be charged via outlets in fales. Note: hairdryers and hair straighteners are not permitted to reduce power strain.

Yes. Sundays are a day of rest in Tonga, where no one is allowed to operate boat charters. Most services close, villages become quiet, and Church services are central to the day. It's a day for rest, family, and community.

This will give us the chance to have a change of pace and visit a nearby Tongan village of around one hundred residents. We’ll have the chance to chat with the locals, experience traditional weaving demonstrations, learn about island life, and visit small family farms, some of which supply the food we eat! There will also be plenty of time for yoga, Island trails, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, shore snorkeling, relaxing, and games.
